Why use a shot list?
Shot list is a great way to remember the shots you need to take to complete your project. There are a lot of things to keep in mind while on the set. A shot list will help you take one thing off your mind and allow you to focus on directing your talent, filming, lighting, composition and all the other important things.
What makes this shot list template special?
You thought the gear checklist template was awesome? Well this shot list is on another level! In addition to writing down each shot you plan to take, this google doc based shot list also creates a schedule for you. All you need to do is add a planned start time and an estimated number of minutes you expect to spend on each shot. At the end it will calculate how much time you are going to need on the set and estimates what time you should be done if you manage to keep on schedule. This is especially important when dealing with daylight. But equally important to schedule around peoples schedules, lunch and anything else that might otherwise be difficult to estimate. As a bonus #1, you can add a safety buffer (recommended 5 minutes) and the sheet will calculate your total run time. And as a bonus #2, this shot list will keep a tally of the number of shots you have planned and as you check them off you’ll know how many are remaining.
